Who we are

Music is how we remember where we come from.

The Bhutanese Musical Group of Rochester preserves and promotes Bhutanese Nepali music, arts, and culture by uniting our community through performance, education, and cultural celebration.

We work to pass our rich cultural legacy on to the next generation — children growing up in the United States who deserve to hear, sing, and play the songs their grandparents knew. And we share that heritage with neighbors who have never heard a Nepali folk song.

Our vision is a Rochester where Bhutanese Nepali identity is not preserved as an artifact, but lived as a musical practice — at the weekly harmonium class, on Dashain and Tihar evenings, and any time someone sits down to a harmonium with a friend.
