Welcome to Our New Home on the Web
For a while now, BMGR has existed in group chats, in community halls, and in the memories of people who've attended our events. But we never had a place online that felt like ours — somewhere people could visit and understand who we are, what we do, and why it matters.
This website changes that.
When I started working on this project, I wanted it to reflect what makes us different. We're not just another music group. We are Bhutanese Nepalis — people who carry a specific history, a specific sound, and a specific way of coming together through music. Our songs are rooted in the hills of Bhutan and the plains of Jhapa. Our instruments — the harmonium, the madal, the tabla — are the same ones our parents played. That identity is what this website is built around.
Here's what you'll find:
- Members — profiles of all 16 active members, with bios and instruments
- Events — upcoming programs, song repertoire, and equipment
- Gallery — photos from concerts, rehearsals, Deusi-Bhailo, and community events
- Blog — stories, recaps, and updates written by our members
- Contact — a simple way to reach us
Everything on this site comes from real conversations with our members. Nothing here is filler. It's all us.
We're also working toward some big milestones: official nonprofit registration, a grand summer concert in June 2026, and youth music programs to get our kids involved. This website will be the place to follow all of that.
If you've been to one of our events, you already know what BMGR feels like. If you haven't — I hope this site gives you a reason to come find out.
